sewing class at mount vernon

Last year at Mount Vernon I took my first official sewing class (even though I have been sewing since the 6th grade for 4-H), but I absolutely loved it. Actually, that class is what made me want to pursue this career! The baby blanket was donated to charity and the purple dress was my final project for the class. The yellow dress is one that started out as only yellow with spaghetti straps and it was long, hanging all the way down to the floor. Our project was to make at least three noticeable changes to it and that is how it turned out. Finally, the blue dress is one I made for my sister to wear to the wedding of one of our old friends.

Summer work

This summer while I wasn't working at two golf courses, a few of my friends asked if I could custom make them a dress or shirt. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE going into a fabric store but I didn't want it to get too expensive so I started going to Goodwill and buying large pieces of clothing that had nice looking fabric and then I would tear it apart at the seams and use that to make the garments. Here are some of the outcomes.
